Greetings fellow RPGers. Surprisingly I had 5 different people this week asking about open games (mine are all full and wait-listed), and I noticed only a few groups posting on various sites right now, though many are active in this area. I mentioned the various Facebook RPG & LARP groups (among others), but several of them stated they won't use Facebook (interestingly for different reasons), so thought it would be good to encourage folks to post their groups on the SpokaneRPG.com and local Meetup.com groups..

Greetings fellow RPGers. Surprisingly I had 5 different people this week asking about open games (mine are all full and wait-listed), and noticed only a few groups posting right now, though many are active in this area. I have mentioned the various Facebook RPG & LARP groups (among others), but several of them stated they won't use Facebook (interestingly for different reasons), but feel fine with using the local Meetup http://www.meetup.com/SCdA-RPG or http://spokanerpg.com.

It is fine to link to your main websites from these sites too, so that should help your own sites show up more too.

If you have room in your existing tabletop RPG or LARP groups in the Spokane / Post Falls / C'dA area (or looking for a group to join), I was wondering if you folks would consider also posting your groups on either/both websites so everyone can find your sessions?

There are over 500 people in the Meetup currently.

There are active groups all over, but so few people know where to find them.

Many of those on Meetup fill up quickly, so if you have groups that need more participants, this should help.

If you are running a regular weekly group you can just set them up to auto-repeat, rather than having to manually post each week.

Even if your group is currently full, it helps the entire RPG community to realize just how active we are.

Just trying to help the community be a little more connected.

This is for both tabletop and LARP groups.

Thank you and Happy Gaming!

Directions for posting on the Spokane area Meetup Group...

Join Meetup.com (it doesn't cost anything and is far less invasive than social networks such as Facebook).

Join the Spokane / Post Falls / C'dA Meetup group.

Select that group's page.

Create a new Meetup in that group by clicking on "+ SCHEDULE A NEW MEETUP". This first step provides the basics, but doesn't set up the automated repeat scheduling. Fill in the appropriate information and save.

After you save it, then click on the "Edit" option, and now you can enter additional details, control number of people allowed to RSVP, wait listing, and automatic repeat features.

To post on the SpokaneRpg.com website...

Register with the website (free) (verify email account, etc.).

To post your group, you have several options at your disposal. The easiest is probably in the Forum: http://spokanerpg.com/forum/looking-for-gamers

Postings in the Forum show up automatically. You can also setup a dedicated Discussion group for your own campaign with regular updates in the http://spokanerpg.com/forum/rpg-group-discussions Forum.  Members can also subscribe for automatic updates to your forum thread, so that when there is a posting, they receive an email letting them know.

If you want to post Blog (for less formal postings) or News (for more formal updates) postings about your group (will grab more attention on the front page of the website. You can navigate to your own user folder, and click on "Add Item > News Item", then complete the information and submit for publication.

Then one of the website volunteers will review your submission and as long as it is legitimate (not a spam bot), will publish and it will show up in the appropriate section of the website.

For any questions, technical support, or suggestions, feel free to post in the forum or email spokanerpg at gmail dot com.

That's it! And no ads, no privacy invasion, no selling your data, and no spam!

Happy Gaming!
